March 23, 2021 -- HEXstream today announced the launch of Utility360, a software solution for utilities that provides new capabilities for handling outages more effectively by enhancing customer communication and providing utility leaders with a 360-degree view of their performance during outage events, both past and present.
Utilities are collecting more data than ever. According to HEXstream, Utility360 transforms this data into actionable analytics for utility stakeholders ranging from operations managers to C-suite executives. From managing crews, to tracking ETRs (Estimated Time to Restoration), to integrating directly with customer-facing systems, Utility360 gives utility professionals crucial real-time analytics across a variety of business-critical workflows.
This new offering was created by HEXstream based on extensive experience working with some of the largest utilities in North America. “Our team has seen up close how the right capabilities can help utilities put their data to work,” said HEXstream CEO Jamal Syed. “We’re excited about the potential we see from a data warehouse that is truly purpose-built for utility analytics. Utility360 is an exciting, cost-effective solution that is easy to implement and designed to adapt to the unique needs of each utility.”
Syed said that Utility360 offers capabilities tailored to both blue- and gray-sky situations. Key features include a variety of customizable KPI dashboards, integrated IEEE reporting, and a customer-facing outage map. An intuitive user interface makes it easy to drill down into more granular details.
Crucial operational data that can be easily tracked using Utility360 include crew availability, asset status, circuit-level reliability metrics for any time-period, customer outage report history, and storm-specific details, added Syed. Custom alerts can be configured for issues like outages missing an ETR estimate or a critical-customer outage.
The underlying data warehouse provides both real-time reporting and simultaneous trend analysis capable of covering overlapping storm paths. Utility360 periodically synchronizes outage correction data and issues notifications if any details become out-of-sync.
HEXstream designed Utility360 as a vendor-agnostic solution available both in the cloud and on-premise that can be implemented in almost any technology environment. It integrates seamlessly with leading Outage Management Systems (OMS) and works with a variety of front-end visualization tools, including Oracle Analytics Cloud and Microsoft PowerBI.
The solution comes ready with recommended configurations that can also be molded to a utility’s unique business rules and processes. HEXstream delivers Utility360 as a “business-ready” solution: installation, custom configuration, and training are all included—everything utilities need to start maximizing the value and insights available from their outage data.
